Introduction

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Strategic Buyer to join our client’s team in the oil and gas industry. As a Strategic Buyer, you will play a key role in the strategic procurement process, establishing partnerships, evaluating offers, conducting negotiations, and managing collaboration agreements.

Your responsibilities will include the following:

  • Participate in strategic procurement activities, contributing to the development and implementation of effective procurement strategies.
  • Establish and maintain contacts with potential partners, suppliers, and vendors, both locally and internationally, to build a strong network and ensure a reliable supply chain.
  • Prepare comprehensive request-documents, including technical and commercial specifications, for procurement processes.
  • Evaluate offers received from suppliers, assessing them against predefined criteria and making informed recommendations.
  • Conduct negotiations with suppliers to achieve favorable terms, including pricing, delivery schedules, and contractual terms.
  • Maintain existing collaboration agreements and framework agreements, ensuring compliance and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Proactively seek and develop new collaboration agreements to expand the supplier base and enhance procurement options.
  • Actively participate in the company’s tender work, preparing tender documents, coordinating the evaluation process, and supporting contract award decisions.
  • Stay up to date with market trends, industry developments, and regulatory requirements relevant to the procurement function.

Ideally, you will have the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in economics, technical studies, or a combination of these.
  • Extensive experience in procurement within the oil and gas industry.
  • Solid knowledge of “Norwegian Total Contract” and “Norwegian Conditions for Purchase 2016”.
  • Proven track record of establishing and maintaining successful partnerships with suppliers and vendors.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement processes, including request-for-proposal (RFP) preparation, bid evaluation, and negotiation techniques.
  • Familiarity with local and international suppliers, market trends, and best practices in strategic procurement.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong knowledge in relevant IT-systems and tools, such as ERP-systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
